a little word about our boards

okay... so i know that we are in the program and we all have done boards before. But, today i was walking by the case located on the first floor and was a little perplexed by some of the boards. I just wanted to give my little tricks to everyone. I know that i do not have amazing boards, but it still can't hurt to offer up some tips. The biggest thing that i noticed was how many boards are curving, why is this. I have found that if you spray both the board and she sheet of paper and then let it dry (somewhat) and tack up and then put them together that the board will not curve b/c there is not as much trapped moisture. Also, i have noticed that are a hand full of board that the paper is already peeling off.... same solution.
I just think that by us having boards that are not up to par, that we are giving off a false or inaccurate image of what the quality of the program is and should be.

Good design - Bad design - and just design

I collect flyers around the city and campus. I dont collect them because i like them or hate them. I collect then to pin up and remind me of what i can or should be doing and what i cant and should not be doing...

THIS IS AMAZING.....

all last year we could not find an easy way to center an object on the page itself. maybe this is a lack of knowledge, but i really think it's a lack of the program... but now you can align stuff to the artboard!! thats right vertical and horizontal to the page itself.

Ask if you don't know how to do it, i will help you out.

we all have that project of RATS for jeff.... am i about to crawl into a sewer to take pictures.. yes...

Boarders

so tonight i spent the evening at boarders on ponce. i did a lot of reading in the design books at the store. i was rather impressed with the selection of books that they have. there was a series of books on cds, dvd and magazines. (mag-art, dvd-art, and cd art)... it covered amazing formates and layouts of magazines. it was great motivation for jeffs class. I also found wonderful books about logo development, not just a collection of logos, it covered case studies about clients and logos. "design research" a profession that i would love to involve myself in.

also graphic 11 is out and amazing. great mag, pick it up and read it... dont buy, $30 for a mag, come on college kids dont have that... that equates to 2 printer cartridges. good lord

stranger than fiction

have you ever watched the movies stranger than fiction??
i have. and i just watched it again. not the best movie (theme, plot and acting...)BUT

amazing type overlays and animations while the movie is playing... its is great. there are also good line animations, among other additives.. check it out.
